Alexandria, VA – March 23, 2016 -Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), the voice of the third-party logistics industry, has granted 54 industry professionals the designation of Certified Transportation Brokers (CTB). Over 2,100 participants have now earned the much sought after CTB designation.

The CTB allows brokers to differentiate themselves within the marketplace by demonstrating core competencies in three tested sections of: brokerage basics and basic business skills; contracts and pricing; and lastly the regulatory environment and legal issues. To complete the CTB Program the participant must pass all three sections.

“Customers, carriers, and staff deserve the highest degree of expertise and professionalism available,” said Jeff Tucker, CTB, TIA’s Chairman of the Board, and CEO of Tucker Company Worldwide, Inc. “My father Bill, co-founded TIA and introduced the Certified Transportation Broker certification program. I’m a big believer in CTB.” Tucker encourages and incentivizes 100 percent of his employees to complete their CTB certification.

TIA, in addition to sponsoring the examination, also offers an online CTB Home Study Course that lasts for a period of up to 17 weeks. The course, which entails rigorous study, helps to prepare those individuals who are seeking CTB certification to prepare for the examination.

Participants must earn at least five candidate points, which are based on professional experience and education to be eligible to take the examination. The participants must also have at least one year of experience working as a broker. Candidates may earn additional CTB eligibility points if they have completed formal education such as being granted a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree.

This program was created in 1986 to significantly increase the professionalism and integrity of property brokers.
