WARNING…. Victim of Identity Alert!

With the growing amount of industry fraud and fraudulent actors, a Watchdog identity alert can be a “good thing”!

An identity alert is information that will often contain important information, such as an email, contact name or number to watch out for or avoid that may be associated with the carrier or broker and has been identified as fraudulent. This is important to know and add to your TMS but doesn’t necessarily mean that the carrier or broker is a bad actor.

Don’t overlook the good information, an identity alert should not automatically interrupt your onboarding process but add valuable data to help ensure you are working with the correct carrier or broker.

Victims of identity theft or stolen identity affect everyone in the supply chain and are often posted by the broker themselves to inform others of a fraudulent actor or imposter or they can be posted by another broker for that same reason. Stay alert so not to fault the carrier or broker who is working to resolve and restore their stolen Identity and always review these alerts.

Identity Alerts should be shared with your management and team to ensure that you are taking the appropriate steps to review and process the data correctly as part of your vetting SOP.

Here are five additional ways to help improve your carrier vetting process and to help combat fraud, take advantage of the following members-only resources:

This program gives TIA members the ability to quickly alert others of problems and help reduce future negative incidents from occurring that involve TIA members.
